Willo was founded by a dentist, Dr. Jean-Marie, who every day saw patients with gum diseases that were preventable with better brushing habits.
Cleaning our teeth seems easy, but if it were that simple, 46% of children aged-2-to-19-years-old wouldn’t have cavities. In fact, cavities are the most common chronic disease among children.
Even for adults, correctly brushing your teeth is a complex, tedious task – so imagine what it must be like for kids. Dental pros and numbers concur, and this study even shows that plaque reduction in kids between the ages of three and nine is below 30%. And just because plaque isn’t visible doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
So after 8 years of research and development, our team - which includes dental professionals, engineers, and designers in France and the U.S. - created Willo. This device completely reinvents how we approach oral hygiene at home from a young age, by offering a fully automated experience that helps kids brush with independence.
Why remove plaque?
Plaque removal is a critical step in avoiding gum disease and tooth decay, both of which are very common diseases in children. They can also have an impact on the rest of the body, even on baby teeth. And of course, when it comes to permanent teeth, avoiding dental disease is even more important.
Adopting a good oral hygiene regimen at a young age is the best way to ensure a lasting, beautiful smile and a healthier body!
